While acknowledging Futura’s origins in the Bauhaus, appropriation by Nazi Germany in World War Two, and its presence on a lunar plaque, this poster investigates the type through the lens of Jenny Holzer. Holzer’s work wields the assumed authority of the typeface, through acts of re appropriation, to communicate a sense or urgency around ending violence and injustice around the western hemisphere.
